 The National Mosque of Malaysia, Masjid Negara is a one-of-its-kind steel mosque with exquisite artistry and palatial grandeur. There are several water features and open areas which give you a glimpse into the modern Muslim architecture. Colorful decorations in light pale and turquoise colors highlight the refreshing ambiance of this pilgrim.
Open to Muslims as well as non-Muslims, the marvelous mosque is one of the best places to see in Kuala Lumpur.


  -The Little India
  
   

  Brickfields, or Little India as it is popularly known as the centre for all the Indian junta of the city. A famous tourist place in Kuala Lumpur, people flock to this miniature India to gorge on Indian delicacies and befriend Indian people. Many anecdotes are shared over the cup of coffee in the side food-joints here. Indian clothing with a dash of Malaysian touch is bought by many.

  -The Casino de Genting

   The most famous attraction in the Genting Highlands has to be the Casino de Genting. Anyone who has been to Vegas may find it a little smaller than some of the most famous casinos in the world but it is the only legal casino in Malaysia and as such something of a powerhouse in the region.
When you visit the casino you can expect some 3,140 slot machines as well as 426 table games, so if you fancy a game you won’t be disappointed.


  -The Snow World Experience

   

    The last thing you may be expecting in Malaysia is snow, but that is exactly what you can expect at the Snow World Experience in the Genting Highlands.
Here you will find a winter landscape that has to be seen to be believed and there is even an actual snow slide which is called the Crest-a Run. You can also have fun with all the family and make snowmen or just throw some snowballs around and this is a great way to cool off if you are tired of the Malaysian heat. 


  -The Berjaya Hills

   

   The Genting Highlands then you can consider a trip to the neighbouring Berjaya Hills. Located in Pahang close to Bentong, the hills sit at a height of 820 meters and also have a clutch of resorts of their own.

Some of the sights to look out for include Colmar Tropical which is a hotel and village that has a surprising French theme that is meant to be mode-led on the Alsace.
There is also a Japanese village here and you can try out a spa and a golf course when you are in town.On the outskirts of the Berjaya Hills, you can be hiking through amazing primary rainforest. 


 -Genting Skyway Cable Car 

   

   The Skyway Cable Car is one of the best ways to whizz to the summit of the Genting Highlands.
If you have a head for heights then you can get into a gondola style pod and then rise to the apex of the hill and take in the spectacular views over the Genting Highlands at the same time. One of the best things about the cable car is that it is also open at night which means that you can check out the views even after the sun goes down and the resorts sparkle in the distance.

    The Genting Highlands is the Indoor Theme Park & Video Games Park which is home to some of the main sights in the area. These include a huge selection of exciting attractions such as museums and an exciting climbing wall.

   Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm has the claim to fame of being that biggest strawberry farms in Malaysia and was the first to be founded in the Genting Highlands. You can also take a tour of the vast strawberry plantation as well as visit the onsite flower gardens.
There is even a strawberry cafe where you can try the delicious fruits grown at the farm.

   Sungai Sendat is a delightful waterfall that is located in Ulu Yam Baru.

  -The Langkawi Sky Bridge

    

   The most famous spots on the island are the Langkawi Sky Bridge which stretches for an impressive 125 meters and is basically a long pedestrianised bridge that offers amazing views of the surrounding countryside Some of the sights that you will see in the distance include some of Langkawi’s surrounding islands as well as Mat Cincang Mountain and the Seven Pools Waterfalls In order to get to the bridge, you will need to take the Langkawi Cable Car to its summit and then move on to the bridge from there.

   One of the most scenic beaches in Langkawi is called Tanjung Rhu beach which lies in the north of the island.   -The water at Air Hangat Village

    

    If you want to relax in Langkawi then you need to head to Air Hangat Village.
Air Hangat actually means ‘Hot Water’ in Malay and with that in mind, you will find a range of hot springs here that are said to have healing properties.
The hot springs are natural saltwater springs although be warned that the waters here are genuinely quite hot, if you have any aches or pains then this is one of the best ways to unwind.


  -Climb Gunung Raya 

   

   Gunung Raya soars to a height of 881 meters and as such, this is the highest peak in Langkawi.
This is also the spot of another one of Langkawi’s famous legends as the mountain was said to have been cursed by a giant named Mat Raya.
The hike to the top of the mountain is rather steep in parts, and you can either go it alone or you can hire a guide.

On your way to the top, you will pass wide swathes of primary rainforest and can expect to see animals like flying foxes, monkeys, eagles, and hornbills.


  -The water sports at Pantai Cenang 

   Pantai Cenang is one of the most famous and best-loved beaches in Langkawi.
It is also one of the most popular and with that in mind, you will find a huge number of activities here which are perfect if you love water sports.
Just some of these include jet-skiing, paragliding, and of course snorkeling and swimming, or if you want something a little more fast-paced then you can even go for a thrilling ride on a banana boat.
The beach is also famous for its sunsets so make sure to come in the afternoon so that you can watch the beautiful light show here.


   -Tour the islands

   Langkawi is actually an archipelago that is made up of 104 different islands in the Andaman Sea, many of which are uninhabited.
With this in mind, you can go on a boat tour that will let you island-hop around, and some of the most visited islands include Pulau Dayang Bunting which means Island of the Pregnant Maiden.
You can either join a more organized tour or you can rent a boat from the Kyah Jetty or the Tanjung Rhu Jetty which will give you more freedom to explore as you see fit.

  -Visit Eagle Square

    Eagle Square is called Dataran Lang in Malay and this is one of the most iconic spots in   Langkawi, The square is located in Kuah which is the main town on the island and once there you will find a huge statue of an eagle about to take flight which stands at a height of some 12 meters,It is also close to a clutch of other attractions such as Taman Legends Langkawi so you can combine a trip here with several other points of interest.

   -The Langkawi Cable Car

    

    One of the jewels in Langkawi’s crown is the Langkawi Cable Car which will take you to the top of Mat Cincang Mountain
The journey takes around 15 minutes but on the way, you will be able to experience the amazing views as you sweep over lush rain forests and past tumbling waterfalls
The peak stands at a height of 708 meters and there is an observatory deck at the summit and on a clear day, you can see all the way across to Sumatra in neigh-boring Indonesia.

   -The fish at Underwater World Langkawi

      

    Located in the town that backs on to Pantai Cenang, Underwater World Langkawi is a great spot to visit if you want to know more about the marine life for which this island is famous.

There are some 500 different species here which include seahorses, seals, and even rock hopper penguins,The main highlight of the facility is an underwater tunnel which stretches for some 15 meters and means that you can observe the aquatic life up close from every angle.

  -Mangrove tour of Kilim Geopark

   

 

  Langkawi is covered in pretty mangroves and they are said to have protected the island and lessened the damage when the tsunami hit in 2004. As such, this is one of the most important Eco-systems in this part of Malaysia, and the best way to visit it is to take a scenic boat tour of the area.
As well as boating around the swamp you will also get to see rugged caves, limpid pools, and areas of forest lands. 

 

Attractions in Penang

  -Penang Hill

   

     Penang Hill was the first colonial hill station developed in Peninsular Malaysia. Comprising Western Hill, Bukit Laksamana, Tiger Hill, Flagstaff Hill, and Government Hill, it is located six km away from Georgetown. The hilly and forested area is the state's primary hill resort.
Set 821m above Penang’s capital, islanders call it Bukit Bendera and it is generally about five degrees cooler than Georgetown. It is the last patch of tropical rainforest in Penang so the flora and fauna here have been protected since 1960. It does not have the same prominence as Genting Highlands, Fraser’s Hill or Cameron Highlands but it is one of Penang’s best-known tourist attractions due to its fresher climate.




   -Adventure Zone Theme Park

    

 

     While on vacation, parents can find it a little hard to keep the little ones entertained while simultaneously having a good time themselves. The 10,300sqft, Adventure Zone Theme Park is Penang’s answer to that. For example, a portrait of the Penang Snake Temple, with a large 3D snake slithering out from the framework.

   -Penang Hill Railway

  

      The most popular way to the top of the hill is the Penang Hill Railway. Located at the foot of the hill, this Swiss-designed funicular starts out from Air Item. Built-in 1923, it is one of the world’s oldest funicular systems and has a 2,007m-long track that climbs the hill at a crawling 30-minute pace.

The journey takes you past luxuriant greenery and the occasional macaque plus the bungalows originally built for British officials and other wealthy citizens. The queue for carriages can be quite long especially on weekends and public holidays: passengers have to change trains midway.

Tawau

   Tawau is the capital of the Tawau District in Sabah, Malaysia. It is the third-largest town in Sabah, after Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. It is located on the Semporna Peninsula in the southeast coast of the state in the administrative centre of Tawau Division, which is bordered by the Sulu Sea to the east, the Celebes Sea to the south at Cowie Bay and shares a border with North Kalimantan. The town had an estimated population as of 2010, of 113,809, while the whole municipality area had a population of 397,673

Before the founding of Tawau, the region around it was the subject of dispute between the British and Dutch spheres of influence. In 1893, the first British merchant vessel sailed into Tawau, marking the opening of the town's seaport. In 1898, the British set up a settlement in Tawau. The British North Borneo Chartered Company(BNBC) accelerated growth of the settlement's population by encouraging the immigration of Chinese. Consequent to the Japanese occupation of North Borneo, the Allied forces bombed the town in mid-1944, razing it to the ground. After the Japanese surrender in 1945, 2,900 Japanese soldiers in Tawau became prisoners of war and were transferred to Jesselton. 

Tawau was rebuilt after the war, and by the end of 1947, the economy was restored to its pre-war status. Tawau was also the main point of conflict during the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation from 1963 to 1966. During that period, it was garrisoned by the British Special Boat Section, and guarded by Australian Destroyers and combat aircraft. In December 1963, Tawau was bombed twice by Indonesia and shootings occurred across the Tawau-Sebatik Island international border. Indonesians were found trying to poison the town's water supply. In January 1965, a curfew was imposed to prevent Indonesian attackers from making contact with Indonesians living in the town. While in June 1965, another attempted invasion by the Indonesian forces was repelled by bombardment by an Australian destroyer. The military conflict finally ended in December 1966.

1. Tawau Hills National Park

   Tawau Hills Park was established in 1979, primarily as a protection for the water catchment area of Tawau Town, Sabah, Malaysia. It is located 24 kilometres from Tawau and comprises 279.72 km² of lowland dipterocarp rainforest, surrounded by oil palm and cacao plantations. The park offers picnic areas, camping sites, and chalets. The Park contains rugged volcanic landscapes including a hot spring and spectacular waterfalls. The highest point in the park is Gunung Magdalena (1310 m). It is administered by the Sabah Parks.

This small reserve has forested hills rising dramatically from the surrounding plain. If getting into the Maliau Basin or Danum Valley feels like too much of an effort, consider Tawau Hills a user-friendly alternative. The forest here is impressively thick, there are trails for hikers of all abilities and the park is excellent for bird-watching and night walks. On a clear day, the Tawau Hills Park's peaks make a fine sight. Avoid day-tripper-heavy weekends.



2. Maliau Basin

    Maliau Basin or also Maliau Basin Conservation Area is a region in Tongod District of Sabah, Malaysia, which represents a geological catchment surrounding the Maliau River. Located around the centre of Sabah in the Sandakan Division, it was designated as a conservation area by the Sabah Foundation (Yayasan Sabah) in 1981. Later in 1997, the Sabah State Assembly gazetted the Basin as a Protection Forest Reserve (Class I) with a total area of 588 square kilometres. The region also features Mount Lotung (1667 metres), Maliau Falls, and Lake Linumunsut. Efforts are underway to nominate the area as a World Heritage Site. In 2011, the Maliau Basin Studies Centre opened, a large field centre to serve as a basis for studies and teaching carried out in Maliau by naturalists, biologists, and groups of field course students (e.g., Sheffield University, Griffith University, Otago University, and the citizen-science organisation.



3. Tawau Bell Tower

   The Tawau Bell Tower (also known as the Belfry) is the oldest standing structure in Tawau, constructed by the Japanese to commemorate the signing of armistice agreement following World War I when Japan was an ally of Great Britain

The bell tower was constructed in 1921 by the Japanese community in North Borneo using prison labour and funds contributed by Japanese businessmen in Tawau. Its bell went missing in a sudden which become a mystery, and there is a legendary story on the missing bell.

Once upon a time in Tawau, there was a tower with a bronze bell with a sound that touches the heart of everyone when every it sounds. But World War II did not spare this unknown town and soon the war reached Tawau. To protect the bell from our enemy and looter, we decided to hide this bell. But where could be a safe place when during the war all historical building faces the risk of destruction 1 kilometre away from the bell tower was a church. Perhaps God can protect the bell.


4. Teck Guan Cocoa Museum

   The Teck Guan Cocoa museum opened in 2002. The museum room is the old cocoa processing plant which is now used as a museum display. This is a small museum big enough to explain the many steps of cocoa powder production.

The conducive climatic conditions and many other natural attributes like the rich, fertile volcanic soil that have made Tawau most suitable place for cocoa cultivation. The moment you set foot in this cocoa museum you will sense the lovely aroma of cocoa permeating the air. Housed within a cocoa and chocolate manufacturing compound. It is truly one of the world's most unique museums. Feel free to enjoy this sweet and beautiful experience.

The museum room is previously a cocoa processing plant which today has been phased out and now displayed as part of the history of cocoa development in Malaysia. In this museum, the staff explain the many steps towards cocoa powder production and cocoa products. The Museum was an old factory with old machinery for visitors to have an insight into a cocoa factory operation.
