Animal Attractions in KL

1. Aquaria

     
      Aquaria KLCC, located on the concourse level of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, is said to be one of the largest aquariums in Southeast Asia. Home to over 150 species of marine life, its star attractions include scary tiger sharks, lethal sea snakes, blue rays, bright coral fish, seahorses and more.

It’s a well-stocked aquarium just begging to be explored, and after a few hours here you'll have seen over 5,000 freshwater and marine creatures, including massive arapaimas, giant groupers, gar fish and more. Some people write it off as a tourist trap, but they’re sorely missing out – beyond the big tanks, with gallons of water, filled with necklaces of kelp, coral and mysterious and sometimes menacing sea creatures, is one of the country’s foremost sightseeing attractions with real depth and complexity.



2. Bird Park

        The KL Bird Park is located in the serene and scenic Perdana Botanical Gardens, 10 minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre. Home to more than 3,000 birds of 200 local and foreign bird species, the main feature that distinguishes KL Bird Park from other bird parks is the concept of free-flight.

The bird park is part of the 60-hectare (150-acre) Lake Gardens, which were established in 1888. In addition to the 20.9-acre (8.5 ha) bird park, which was created in 1991, the gardens include an artificial lake, the National Monument, the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park, the Deer Park, Orchid and Hibiscus gardens, and the former Malaysia Parliament House.^[1] It is one of the world's largest covered bird parks.^[3] The park has been sited on a hillside in Bukit Aman, with netted walk-in aviaries hugging the slopes and folds on the hillside.


3. National Zoo of Malaysia

     Located to the north-east of Kuala Lumpur, the National Zoo is run by the Malaysian Zoological Society and almost 500 species are housed within. There are a range of exhibits for visitors to enjoy such as a reptile park, an aviary, a lake, and a freshwater aquarium. There are even areas dedicated to insects as well as a huge range of other local flora and fauna. The zoo runs conservation programs and educational activities such as guided tours and interactive exhibits geared towards children and teenagers. There is even a dedicated section called Children’s World that focuses on domestic pets and has a replica farmhouse barn and a play area.
